We arrived in Bhutan on January 21st and have not seen a single milimeter of rain until just a minute ago when, a propos of nothing, the sky just burst with it! What a sound it makes on the metal roofs and their rows of rocks.
We lived enveloped in sounds: the voices and instruments of the monks, the whooping of the cranes, the calling of the crows, the screaming of the cats, the howling of the dogs and the constant whails of babies. And I wouldn't plug my ears for all the money in the world. It is the music of life.
That would be quite the sound in the silence! Imagine Monsoon season! Good thing you brought those ear plugs---or did you?
